VICTOR WISEHART

An accomplished dancer and choreographer, Victor began his training with the Southern California Ballet going on to perform principal roles in Coppelia, A Midsummer’s Nights Dream, The Nutcracker, and Cinderella. He attendedthe Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive and American Ballet Theater Summer Intensive on full scholarship.  While dancing with The Southern California Ballethe was mentored by golden age of Hollywood, T.V, andLas Vegas choreographer Tom Hansen. Continuing his education at The Boston Conservatory on a full scholarship graduating Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Dance, Victor performed classics by Jose Limon, Anthony Tudor, August Borniville, and Luis Fuente,  choreographed 4 works for the Boston Conservatory Dance Theater, andtrainedas an operatic Bass/Baritone performingDie Fledermaus and Phillip Glass’ Akhanatan.

After the Boston Conservatory, Victor joined the New York Theater Ballet where he toured all over the united states and performed a wide repertory ofAmerican classical ballets and European Neoclassical and Contemporary works. While at the New York Theater Ballet Victor continued to work with his mentor Gemze De Lappe, becoming her protégé and continuing the legacy of Agnes De Mille’s choreography for OKLAHOMA! and Carousel.  Leaving for the 50th Anniversary World Tour of West Side Story, he made his Musical Theatre debut in the role of Diesel at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris. He continued to tour with WSS to Vienna, Athens, Düsseldorf,  and Zurich.

He made his New York stage debut in Pipe Dream, a City Center Encores! productionand his London West End debut as Diesel in West Side Story at Sadler’s Wells Theatre (for which he received an Olivier Award nomination). He appeared in Lincoln Center Theater’s production of South Pacific at The Kennedy Center, as well as for its first national tour.  Additional performing credits include My One and Only and Damn Yankees at Connecticut’s Goodspeed Opera House, Pirates!, Dreamgirls, and Oklahoma! at The Muny in St. Louis, My Fair Lady at Arena Stages D.C. Pirates! and The Jungle Book at The Huntington Theater.

Victor returned to the Theatre du Chatelet with the world premiere of An American In Paris, continuing with the production to his Broadway debut, originating the role of Mr. Z in An American In Paris on Broadway where he currently performs.

Victor has reproduced Christopher Gattelli’s choreography for Ogunquit Playhouse’s South Pacific (nominations for IRNE and Broadwayworld.Com Boston Award for Best Choreography), collaborated as associate choreographer with Gemze de Lappe at The Muny (Oklahoma!) and Boston’s Reagle Music Theatre (both Oklahoma! and Carousel). He served as associate choreographer for the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s recent production of Oklahoma!
