CINDY SALGADO

Born in Sunnyvale, California, Cindy Salgado trained in multiple styles of dance and continues to explore a range of inspirations. After graduating from the Juilliard School in 2005, with the Princess Grace Award, she began freelancing in New York. She danced for Aszure Barton & Artists on projects such as “Busk” and Mikhail Baryshnikov’s “Hell’s Kitchen Dance Tour”.  She has assisted in preproduction for Andy Blankenbuehler on “The Wiz”, “In The Heights”, “Bring It On”, "Fly" and future productions.  Cindy has worked for Mia Michaels as a performer and assistant on projects like SYTYCD, Delirium (a Cirque du Soleil production), and Anna Vissi concerts in Greece.  She has taught and choreographed for dance schools throughout the US, and is currently on faculty with New York City Dance Alliance. She was a cofounder and volunteer teacher for ASTEP, an outreach organization that provides arts programming for underserved children internationally.  Her work has been performed this year at the Joyce Theatre as a part of the NYCDA Foundation Benefit Concert, in Lincoln Center as a part of the Pianos Closing Celebration, and in NYs and TOs/TOES for Dance in and around Toronto. Cindy has recently become an Assistant Rehearsal Director for Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet and has been dancing for Crystal Pite’s company, Kidd Pivot, since 2009.
