DEREK ROLAND


Derek is a NYC based writer, choreographer, director and teacher, originally hailing from Rochester N.Y. He is a long-standing company member with 3-time Drama Desk nominated Parallel Exit Theater Company, and his direction and choreography have been featured in NYC at venues such as Lincoln Center Institute, the New Victory Theater, City Center, the Laurie Beechman Theater, 59E59 Theaters, Emerging Artists Theatre, NYMF, Dixon Place, The Duke Theater, the Joyce Soho and New World Stages. Performance credits include National Tours of Kiss Me Kate (Bill Calhoun), Showboat, Cinderella and Funny Girl, and the Italian Tour of West Side Story. NY credits include performances at Town Hall, City Center, and Lincoln Center. As an educator,Derek has served on faculty at Steps on Broadway, Mark Morris Dance Group, CAP21 Conservatory, Marymount Manhattan College and Broadway Dance Center. His 1st play “Peace and Quiet” recently premiered in the NY Theater Festival, and his original rock musical “Pie Eater!” is in development along with many other upcoming projects you can find out about here: derekroland.com
